Rakuten

Job Description: Business Overview When you see the word "Rakuten", you probably have an image of many e-commerce-related services such as "Rakuten Ichiba", "Rakuten Books", and "Rakuten Fashion". If you order items from these services, it is commonplace every day that the items will be delivered to your home. So, where and how are these items managed, how are they boxed, shipped, and delivered to your home? In fact, these parts that you cannot directly see are the scope of responsibility of EC logistics, which we are in charge of. Department Overview We operate multiple warehouses across Japan, where we store and manage products for "Rakuten Books," "Rakuten Fashion," and "Rakuten 24," while also handling tasks such as receiving and shipping goods. Additionally, through our "Rakuten Super Logistics" service, we provide support to Rakuten Ichiba merchants by storing their products and performing similar operations on their behalf. The systems developed by our EC Logistics Development Department are essential for carrying out the series of operations in these warehouses. If our systems were to stop functioning, products purchased through e-commerce would not be delivered. Moreover, logistics (delivery) is the only point of direct contact with customers. While logistics often has a behind-the-scenes image, it plays a critical role in the entire process. In addition to managing these systems that are closely tied to the "on-site operations (warehouses)," our department is also responsible for systems that control the "estimated delivery date" displayed on Rakuten Ichiba, "delivery status inquiries" from purchase histories, and "notifications related to deliveries." In this way, the EC Logistics Development Department develops and operates the logistics infrastructure that supports the Rakuten Group, as well as the systems that underpin it. The group we are recruiting members for is responsible for the development, operation, and maintenance of the warehouse management system for "Rakuten 24" as well as the automated warehouse control systems for "Rakuten 24," "Rakuten Books," "Rakuten Fashion," and "Rakuten Super Logistics." The control of automated warehouses, known as material handling (MHE), involves physical movements such as transporting containers and cardboard boxes. When a massive warehouse operates exactly as intended through a program you developed, it provides an unparalleled sense of accomplishment. Position: Why We Hire We are looking for a wide range of logistics system development engineers who can improve services. It is not necessary to be related to the logistics system until now.
